Raid Leaders bringing home the bacon!

Recently we have appointed two Raid Leaders who were tasked with taking SnS endgame to a new level and give some structure and organise this orrid lot!

So far the runs have been going very well with Eternity Vault and Karaggas Palace (8 man hard mode) well under our belt, and we continue to work on our Explosive conflict at the moment.

Last week saw us attempt our first 16 man raid made up fully of SnS, our target was the smelly hutt Karagga again, it was an interesting and enjoyable raid and a little more difficult than we had expected, the trash went down easy enough and even Bonethrasher! the Chuckle brothers gave us a bit more of a work out though leaving no prisoners, eventually after a couple of very close calls we took the two down.

Unfortunatly we were not so luck with the Ugly Foreman, who decided that two hitting our tank and everyone else would be a lot more fun for him than it would be for us and our raid had to finnish there.

We have also recruited a fair few more into our ranks now, who are currently scrubbing the decks, welcome all to SnS I hope you find a new home for yourself with us!

Ok, I know we are still yet to have a release date on the next big patch very cleverly named "1.2" so we don't actually know when we will get this patch but it is one to look forward too, they are at last implamenting guild features that should of really been put in from the start.

A big thanks to everyone who has donated to the website so far, all help is muchly appreciated to keeping this lovely (if not buggy at times) website going!

More and more people are hitting level cap in the guild now and enjoying the fruits of raiding what ever things there are to raid at 50! (yes im still not 50! bah!) We have plans to tackle the larger raids that require a few more slaves to be thrown at them.. I mean brave warriors of course. Events as always are up on the Calendar so make sure your signed up for them.

Recruitment is still open and we welcome any mature person looking for an active friendly guild. Your level and class do not matter as long as you bring the right attitude :)

The Progenitor!

This is a European RP-PvE server just what we wanted, can't say I'm a huge fan of the name but its not like I will notice once a character is made!

Anyone that didn't sign up to the Bioware site before the 2nd of December will need to contact me in game for an invite!

We are all very excited to finally be allowed to get into this game and sink our teeth in! expect many spice runs ahead!

Thats right, Bioware have started phase 3 of their guild programme which is to check all the guilds to see if they meet the requirements for a live guild and to start transfering them over to the servers of their choice. We are indeed considered ready with well over four people pre-ordering SW:TOR, more likely 90% of our members have done so. There is still time to join us before we go live, just apply to the guild and then to our Bioware page and you will be included in the guild transfer.

Stress test or Best left?

Fridays news update is that a stress test weekend is coming soon and everyone who has applied for beta before Nov 11th will now have an invite, those who did not still have a chance by going to selected gaming websites who will be giving out beta codes. This leads to a few questions, with so many being invited will the servers even stay up long enough to try the game? (well it is a stress test so I guess it will certainly show what the servers are worth!) it does make you wonder why they didn't just make it an open beta test.

Secondly is, will it be worth it, being so close to the release date now is it worth trying to download 27gb+ to try a short weekend full of frustration and to skip through the tutorial and perhaps ruin your first day access to the game. Lets be honest, either way you will be downloading the game and you will try and get in to see what its like. (You are human afterall!!)

Either way we do not have long to wait and I am every bit as eager to play the game as I was when I first heard about the game... bring it on!

Thats right! we now have a recruitment video, oh you was thinking the other news? Well we do have two important news announcements this week and I shall put them in order of best first.

He had a hard job to do to be able to capture the essence of what SnS is about, due to Biowares lack of showing anything other than Sith/Jedi force users. While we accept any class into the guild our main theme is around being pirates/privateers in the SW:TOR universe. We only follow one Law and thats our own. We are on the Empire side because Bioware forced us to pick one and this best suits our in game goals.

So come join us and if you already have a home then why not hire us instead!

Now on to the second bit of news. Imagine this... (actually this prob went through most peoples heads!) A new e-mail, sitting there in my inbox, Bioware in the senders name, ooh beta invite must be guild beta, I get all excited and click the mail fast! Big bold letters stood out saying RELEASE DATE.. amazing at last they have given us a date.

I was like a kid at Christmas, scrolling down to see when the date was, how Ironic then, that the only people to enjoy this release date are the kids at Christmas because anyone old enough to be called an adult certainly wont! I re-read the email about three times in disbelief and proceeded to check the TOR site... nop the date is bang on Christmas week! Those that can play the game there and then congratulations to you, those who cant the prefect pressie this year is a DIY divorce kit from Tesco :P because thats the only way this will take you!

As you all know, we cant have a ship with such renown as ours (cough cough) without it being kept in immaculate condition! So I would like to welcome the new deckscrubbers of Slice n Spice! oh and remind them that they missed a bit! grrr. We hope that you fit in well with the rest of the crew and that you feel free to natter away!

SW:TOR Pre-Order + Guild Roster and more

Yes thats right! Star Wars: The old Repulic has released pre-order details and you can now get your pre-orders in for early access to the game! Amazon, Play and Game are the main UK retailers with only GAME selling the Collectors Edition (sold out and can only get in store now). Prices are pretty steep for all versions but what can we do about that! :(

So, we have a release date now, surely...... NO! there is still no info on how much the monthly subscriptions will cost and no info on the release date of the game, only that it will become available this year, like we didnt know that!

As for the guild, Stout n Sturdy/SnS.. Slice n Spice, we are hoping to be there in force (see what I did there....no? ok!) it is important that you all sign up to the guild on the offical star wars site (http://www.swtor.com/guilds/13872/slice-n-spice) this will mean that when the game goes live the guild will be automatically created and you will be in it.

Patch 1.2 and other stuff!

Well patch 1.2 has now been stuck on the test server so anyone interested can go take a look. I will just wait until it is on live server but there does seem to be yet again quite a few changes happening. Some highlights I have seen below (these are in testing and subject to change)

WARDROBE SLOTS (yeh I like to put the most important info up top :P )
* Wardrobe slots are now available for you to customize your character's look!
* All characters have access to the first wardrobe set (all armor slots) at level 1.
* Additional purchaseable wardrobe sets will allow you to save and swap multiple outfits quickly.
* You can only equip armor in wardrobe slots of the appropriate type for your calling - Plate for Warriors, Leather for Rogues, etc.
* Additional clothing items will be available in the future, including from new Clothier vendors in Sanctum and Meridian.

CRAFTING RIFTS
* Lures for Crafting Rifts and are obtained by completing the new weekly crafting quests in addition to the tradeskill-specific Plaque the quest awards.
* These Rifts drop raw materials, Augments, and other goodies for crafters.
* Reaching the final stages gives a chance of obtaining an additional plaque!
* Crafting Rift lures open a Rift of appropriate level for the zone. In addition, materials awarded are also based on the zone level where the Rift is opened.
* All levels of crafting Rifts give a chance for an additional plaque from the bonus stages, even below your character level.
* Bring your friends and spread the wealth!

GUILD QUESTS
* New weekly harvesting guild quests are available from Horace Shoe in Meridian, and Cardinal Gladewillow in Sanctum. These are taken and completed as an individual, but reward your guild.
* More standard guild quests have been added to the mix!
* Player-kill objective PvP quests now require more updates in general.
* Warfront PvP quests now update more consistently.

There are many more changes but I cant list them all, again another round of patching the classes as well as new things being added.

On other news, Star Wars and GW2 have been pretty quiet at the moment and there isn't a lot to report, SW is still doing their friday news feature so be sure to take a look at that every friday. The news from them isn't always great but the snippet below is of the Sith Warrior, I thought it was a nice update so will share with you all!

No news is good news!

Sorry it has been a while since my last news post but I assure you this is good news because it means Stout n Sturdy have firmly settled into Rift and are enjoying what we have seen so far. It is great to see some old faces back with us again, I am pleased you tracked us down and joined us.

On behalf of Stout n Sturdy I would like to give a warm welcome to our new recruits and members, they seem to be settling in very well and picked up the "Berate Gory” bat easily and with only a little encouragement!

Unfortunately no news is not always good, we continue to wait for SW to give us a release date and while small dribbles of news is ok… GIVE RELEASE DATE!!! Well they are taking their time; however they have now released some guild features and our very own little webpage on their site. Last but not least Congratulations to Aliana for being the guilds first level 50, a few more are very close following! You do realise that we will now expect you to be the Guru on just about everything, on the plus side you will have spare time to cook us more cookies.

Stout n Sturdy will continue on the Guardian side of the Argent (RP-PvE) server

Some people will argue it's still too far away but headstart will begin at 6pm on Thursday 4th and providing it all goes smooth (haha.. yer right because thats happened before) we aim to get the guild up and running as soon as we can. Gory has put an event up on the events page so please sign up to let us know you will be there!

How to begin :
Make sure you have gone to your account at Trion and added your reatil/pre-order key, once you have done that click the link below and download the launcher. Once installed run the launcher and wait.. for 8gb to download! (We are not 100% sure but we think you have to completely wipe the beta from your pc)

Welcome - Under Construction

Welcome SnS to our new home! (as you can see it is under construction) Oh and welcome to you, random stranger who has clicked on our site instead of your local take away pizza, stop drooling and join the Dark side!

My thanks go to both Krispli and Merecraft, who helped make/host/run our old forum for the past 3 years. It is both regret and excitement that we move here to our new site. We leave behind a large amount of our guild history and life. The good news is that the forums are still there and anyone can use and access them, they will still be there for the other games we play, you can get back to them by pressing the “SnS Multi-game” tab on the menu up top.

But a new home and new beginning is in front of us! Unless you have been living on one of Hutta’s moons, then you will know we have been watching/tracking Star Wars: The Old Republic for over a year (since it was announced for me!) and the time is getting closer to the release of this Bioware MMO! We have to ask, what kind of MMO is it if it doesn’t have SnS. It wouldn’t be one I hear you say and that’s exactly what we thought so Slice n Spice has been created!

We aim to continue running SnS with the same principles we always had, with Fun being number one! (sorry sorry I know) We have decided to lighten up a bit more on the RP and leave it mainly for grouping and events.

You can read more about where we are heading with the guild on the “About Us” tab but a brief overview is that we have decided to make ourselves pirates/privateers in this vast universe of space. Ideally we would like to have lived on the grey side of life, however Bioware has forced everyone to pick a side and the dark side has pulled us in, so we shall be flying the Empire banner.
